Coping with Varicocele Surgery!

Hello guys!
This is vin here from Pune-India. Male 28 Yrs - single. I recently had a pain in left testicle followed with a heaviness in it. I visited an Urologist who forwarded me for Scrotal USG - Doppler study which observed left sided varicocele Later I also conducted semen analysis and fortunately it was all ok. The pain and heaviness with the testicle prompted me to go for an varicocele surgery.

Its now almost two weeks I had this surgery done and things are working out quite easy. Doc advised me to take rest of at least 3 days post surgery. I took a leave of 1 week from work and joined after 1 week from operation. I am quite normal with everything apart from doc has restricted me not to lift heavy things for next 3 months. Yesterday i.e. on 9th day after operation stitches were removed. I was still feeling some pain in the left testicle when I wud touch it. Doc examined the testicle for any post-surgery complication and was sure that things are pretty ok. He asked me to neglect the pain and give it some time…say a months time.

Few posts on this website have helped me. Now I have a feeling of numbness right from the point of incision upto my left thigh and I have read on many websites that it may take months to get rid of that. I will update you again in few days. Hope my this post may help others.

One thing for sure, varicocele surgery is not at all scary…things are quite easily tuned up…..you are all fine on almost 3rd or 4th day of surgery.

You shud not go for surgery if:
- married with kids and have no further expectation
- bearable pain which can be well reduced with a scrotal support or say tight underwear

Cost of surgery:
In India it should be around 25 to 30k in a good hospital.
