Bladder Repair Surgery

I had my bladder lifted using the sling procedure It’s been 6 weeks of misery. I cannot urinate from severe pain, that I end up in the ER and they reinsert a catedar [catheter] and I have to come home w/it until I can see my doctor.

I’ve been able to urinate only a couple of times on my own for 2-3 days, and then it starts up again, even after they check my urine and tell me I have no infection. This last time, I was cleared to go back to work; did not have an infection; had urinated for 3 days on my own; I went out of town and ended up at the ER.

I’m frustrated; not sure what I’m doing wrong; not sure if I need to see a urologist or continue the the OB/GYN that performed the surgery, and not sure what else I can do to help myself.

I never experienced UTI’s before, until this surgery, so I’ve been clueless to the symptoms until it’s too late.

  • My UTI’s - by SJO - (Mon, Aug 18 2008)
I started having UTI’s not too long after my 2nd son was born in 2004, but it was just one here or there. My big problem started this past school year in Aug. 2007. I started getting symptoms and went to the doctor. The antibiotics cleared it up, but it wasn’t long and I had it again. This time I had it and couldn’t knock it. I was in a lot of pain. They decided to do an ultrasound of my kidneys too [more..]
