My husband and I have been married over 2 years, I’m 23, and I used to get UTI’s VERY frequently, just about every time we had sex. What I found that helps, is to drink 100% pure cranberry juice (no sugar, NOT coctail) like there’s no tomorrow when you first have symptoms. Gag down as much as you can stand. (Only place I found that sells the stuff is Trader Joe’s) It is the nastiest tasting stuff on earth, but if you catch it early enough, I found that it helps your body fight it off on its own without antibiotics. Like you, I am also hesitant to take an antibiotic that frequently. For prevention, try taking a cranberry supplement daily. If your UTI doesn’t go away after 2 or 3 days of drinking that horrid liquid, it’s extremely important to see a Dr. I’ve had a time or two where I haven’t caught it in time, and my body needed an antibiotic to fight it off, but the cranberry juice significantly reduces expensive doctor visits and prescriptions.
