UTIs

After visiting my gynae recently, I asked her whether I was doing something wrong because I seem to be ‘prone’ to UTIs. She explained to me that I need to drink lots of water - if you’re urine is concentrated every time you urinate, you’re not drinking enough.

She also said that when I feel I need to go , I should go and not ‘hold it in’ and then when I do urinate, I should sit forward so that I place pressure on my bladder to ensure that my bladder is completely emptied because often we think we’ve emptied our bladders but we actually haven’t! It’s also important to wipe from front to back and not the other way round other wise you’re carrying all the bacteria from the anus forward which can cause infection. As has been mentioned, urinate after intercourse. Also, I should avoid: heated pools (bacteria thrives in higher temperatures), scented bubble baths, bath salts etc, scented sanitary towels, etc.

In March of this year, my mom called me. She said she was having trouble breathing, she was scared. She would just quit talking to me as if she were asleep or had put down the phone. I got worried about her. She had a lot of health issues: infazema [emphysema], high blood pressure heart, and copd I called an ambulance for her as I live about an hour away. I called her back to tell her help was on the way. I met her at the hospital. After hours of waiting, and a multitude of tests, they diagnosed a kidney and bladder infection. They would give her IV antibiotics and she could go home in about an hour. The Dr. came in to release her and I inquired about her blood pressure which was very low. [more..]
