urethral diverticula

it took almost two years to determine that i have urethral diverticula. i am told the only way out of this pain and suffering is to have surgery. I am not confident enough to go ahead with this but i cant function like this much longer. Has anyone had surgery for this or have related experience to share? I am a female aged 50.
