I complained of low energy, weight gain, lack of libido and blood tests showed no measurable amount of testosterone. At first no cause was found but after seeing a neurologist and having a brain MRI a small tumor was found on my pituitary. I started out with injections which brought my levels up but caused peaks and valleys. I moved to gels but the amount I had to use was expensive. The best course for me was to find a compounding pharmacy where I get a topical cream, 10% and use between 1/8 and 1/4 tsp once per day. I was fortunate to have a baseline measure of testosterone done in my mid 30’s and we adjusted the amount to keep my total and free at these levels. One note…everyone is different. My normal levels are higher than the ‘normal’ range. I’m around 900 total and 26 free. It has made quite a difference in my quality of life and I recommend the therapy for anyone with low testosterone levels. Comments
