Left Testicular Pain

Ever since I had my vasectomy in 2002, I have had severe pain in my left testicle. It usually happens 3-4 times a year lasting anywhere from 1 day to 1 week. I have had several tests performed but all where normal. This last episode on March 9, 2009, I ended up in the ER and all they could say is that it was epididimitis caused by an STD. Mind you I have not been sexually active for 18 months now. They ran the STD tests anyway and they were negative like I suspected. The pain tends to be in the epididymis area and radiates to the kidneys and up to the stomach. I am 42 years old now and I am tired of the pain. If anyone has any ideas or comments I would greatly appreciate it.
