kidney cancer

I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in both of of my kidneys in March of 08. This came a a huge shock to me being that i thought that i was just passing a stone and the ER wanted to check for more stones and found my tumors. I was so scared and sick and felt like why are they telling me this when i know i am ok.

I had no symptoms, I did not have back pain that really bothered me. I always had back problems so i never thought it could of been kidney problems.Well needless to say I had to have alot of tests done to find out if the cancer spread to other parts of my body, in which it did not. So on May 15,2008, I had a partial nephrectomy, on my left kidney, my tumor was over 10 cm. I lost my lower ribs on that side. I did good once I got home and recovered and then 8 months later i had my right kidney done. I had part of that removed as well, this one was not as big as the other tumor.

As of today I am cancer free. I go every 90 days for MRI’s and to see my doctor…I am so happy to have the doctor that I have. I know it is hard to hear you have cancer. You are not alone. I Do feel like I am, but I am not. I know that. I have alot of support from my family and friends and my sister who has been there thru every doctors appt and all my surgeries and tests. Without her I would of never of gotten thru this. If you are going thru this and you have the one special person on your side, give them a hug and ask them if they are ok, after all they are going thru this too..it is hard for them as well.

Please feel free to comment below if you ever want to talk about this, good luck to you.
