Coping With Prostatitis

I had TUIP prostate surgery on my prostate 1/9/08 and it went very well to my supprise! 2 weeks later I was retaining 4-500 cc of urin after urinating. The Dr. said I had to learn how to cath my self. I did. A week later I had to go to ER because I couldn’t pee because the cath and urethia (sp) was being pluged with blood clots. (What a trip!) The Dr. sent me on my way and said to cath my self only when I felt the need.

My wife & and I left for Texas 4 days after my ER episode. Everything was going well during our 4 week Texas vacation and I didn’t have to cath my self that much. When I got home I went back to the Dr. and did the pee in the funnel routine. My flow was good bot I was still retaining 4-500cc of urine!! I really don’t feel the 3-400 cc in the bladder. The nurse told me I will have to cath my self 2-3 times a day and I was to report back to the Dr. in 3 mo. Since I started cathing 3 times a day I am getting rectal pain and I am still retaining 350 - 400cc of urine. I feel I am getting an infection in the prostate because I am feeling rectal discomfort so I am going to start taking Macrobid again. I don’t know what is going on so I am getting another opinion from a different Urologest. I hope he can give me some answers.
