Male Cystitis

My husband aged 57 had a prostrate shave 4 months ago because he was in pain and having trouble urinating for about 12 months. His prostrate was clear and not cancerous and the Urologist said lets operate on the prostrate.
During the prostrate shave he had bladder tissue removed for testing as a small section was red, testing cleared nothing there.
Since the operation he has had a burning sensation and urinating frequently to the stage he has it everyday now.

Urine tests showed pus and still there now but no bacteria. He was teated for 18 weeks with antibiotics no changes.
The Urologist suggested salt water hydration and bladder stretching (day surgery) which was done today, prior. This morning the Urologist now suggests he has Cystitis which he said will get better in the next couple of weeks and about every 12 months my husband will have to have this procedure as the Cystitis will return.

I am gobsocked and cannot believe he has to put up with this. To say the least it has changed my husband and our lifestyle hugely. When I read up on this there are some extremes with Cystitis and itsr emedies and I wonder how it will affect him as he gets older. This is forever I read. Then there is the daysurgery process, cost and discomfort, general anaesethic and how that will affect him? Any successes out there please let me know?
