To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Bladder and Prostate Cancer I am a Disable American Veteran, and I have bladder and prostate cancer In 2004, I started having blood in my urine, my doctor at the VA, said I must be passing kidney stones Don’t worry about. He didn’t see a point in doing test to find the cancer. He started me on treatments for an enlarged prostate but no test were done. This went on for 2 years, until Dr Valyda left the VA, and I got a doctor who cared enough to do tests. She set me up with and IVP with contrast. A very large mass was found in my bladder. The largest the Urologist had seen. I had 5 TURB extractions in 5 months, they believed the had it all. They started me in the 6 week course of BCG, and then waited a month and found a new growth. So I went back into surgery for the 6th time. This time the recommendation was to remove the bladder, and by the way They singled out that I had prostate cancer also. Well September 10, 2008. I had my bladder and prostate removed. I then went through 3 courses of 2 chemo drugs. I am currently through with the chemo, and all looks well. I have lost feeling in both hands and feet due to the chemo But I am a live and well, Thank God they caught it in time. Comments
