To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download An update on Jocelyn Well…at Joc’s first appt with the urologist in May, we learned that she had unilateral level 2/3 VUR (L) and her left kidney was smaller than her right (6.6, 7.3). She has been on daily antibiotics now since February. She has frequent daytime wetting accidents (sometimes 3-5 per day!) and gets repeated low-grade fevers. (She is 4 and has been potty trained since 2). She has been checked for a UA only once since May’s appt and it was negative. Today we went back for our 2nd renal ultrasound. Dr was hoping to see the kidneys growing at the same rate which would indicate a birth abnormality, not damage. Today her right kidney measured 7.6 and her left measured 6.6 still. It hasn’t grown. She is going to start physical therapy to help her learn to control her bladder muscles for the next 6 months to help with her daytime wetting. And we will wait another 6 months for another VCUG and sonogram to check her progress at that point. I don’t feel comfortable waiting so long knowing that her kidney is already not growing. I worry about what long-term damage this could all do to her. But…I’m not the doctor, so we just follow orders. Thank you to everyone who sent messages before and kept Jocelyn in your prayers. We definitely appreciate it. Comments
