My daughter’s VUR

by: Tricia on Wed, Mar 05 2008

Jocelyn has always seemed to get illnesses differently than other children. In August 2007, she had her tonsils removed. In November 2007, I believe she had her first UTI The dr told us she had a bad case of the flu.

In January 2008, she had the exact same symptoms that she had in Nov…105* fever for 3-4 days, vomiting, extreme irritability…they said the same thing. The flu. I asked the dr at that appointment why she had started to wet her pants again even though she had been potty trained for over a year. They did a urinalysis and found that she had a UTI at that time, and not the flu.

She was scheduled a week later for the VCUG and renal ultrasound. They found that she has upper level 2 VUR. I assume that’s somewhere between levels 2 and 3. At her physical yesterday, they found protein in her urine and it was cloudy. We’re waiting for culture results. She is going to a clinic today for voiding dysfunction and will see the pediatric urologist in about 4 weeks. She has been on antibiotics since January.

Is anyone else going through this? Please keep Jocelyn in your prayers. So much has gone on with her in her short 3 years of life…
