Ureteroscopy Stone Removal

I have never posted anything on the internet but my experiences over the past month have kind of forced me to.

After about 4 hits of renal colic, 9 days ago I had a stone fragmentation by ureteroscopy and a stent fitted. The urologist said this may cause some ‘discomfort’. There is still a lot of blood in my urine and the stent is causing the kind of ‘discomfort’ that has me thinking a dose of renal colic would be a welcome relief. I have extremely sharp pain on sitting and walking and I am constantly tired and nauseous with sometimes a severe ache in my side. However I am not feverish so guess there is no infection.
My doc has said ‘this can be quite common so see how it goes’ but I am just wondering if this is normal as I am tempted to perform a DIY removal of this stent. I assume that the stent is placed correctly as this was checked but it feels like I have a razor blade in me that causes unbearable spasms.
I am sorry to moan but hoping that someone can tell me tomorrow this will all be a distant memory… :)
Thanks

  • My First Stone - by Susan - (Mon, Aug 25 2008)
It began with a pain in my left lower back last Saturday evening. I thought maybe it was the wooden chair I was sitting in at a small festival. By Sunday, I thought I had a UTI, except that I always voided. I have only had one UTI in my life and I don’t remember having back pain with it. [more..]

I was so scared reading peoples experiences, then it hit me, people with good outcomes probably wouldnt take the time to share a story, so I decided to tell mine so far. My stone was a whopping 14mm. I felt pain in the front, not the back so had no clue this might be my kidney acting up. [more..]
