Urinary frequency

I just wanted to share my story with others in the hopes that you won’t have to suffer like I did. About a week before Christmas, I noticed that I felt like I had to urinate constantly. I thought I had a UTI so I called the MD to get an ABT. When I still felt the same 5 days later, I went to the ER. I found out that I didn’t have a UTI, but did have some blood in my urine and after a CT scan found a .3cm stone in my left kidney and a .5cm stone in my right kidney. I asked the ER doc why I had to urinate constantly and he said that it was unlikely that it was from the stones.

A short time later, I made an appt with my urologist They too also weren’t sure why I was in the bathroom all the time, however I was scheduled to have lithotripsy done, almost two months later. Meanwhile I suffered with my symptoms on a daily basis. It was so bad that I was up 3 times at night to go to the bathroom, I could barely stand without having the urge to go, and I was in the bathroom more than 25 times a day, urinating only very little with getting no relief from the urgancy. I was on the phone with the urologist on almost a daily basis. The DR put me on Detrol….still no relief. I also had a Cytostopy, to look at my bladder. The results were normal. All along my Dr is telling me that my symptoms have nothing to do with my kidney stones and that I am just having bladder spasms.

I knew the dr was wrong and I hated him for making me suffer, but I just had to wait to have the Lithrotripsy done. Well I did prove him wrong, because after the procedure all of my symptoms were completely gone. From doing my own research, I have learned that kidney stones can cause urinary urgancy and frequency, but I had two dr’s tell me that they didn’t. Please don’t continue to suffer. If your dr. won’t help you or can’t give you a reason for your symtoms….please get a second opinion!!!!!

About 1 year ago I woke to blood in my urine in a little pain. I immediately made a doctor’s visit and she prescibed pain medicine, antiboidics, and a C.T.scan. The scan came back positive for stones. [more..]

My first kidney stone attack was 27 years ago when I was pregnant with my docter. They could not see it when I was pregnant and while giving birth I told the doctor that the pain I was feeling was more than just labour pains and he just laughed telling me that I forgot how it felt from the last child birth.
