To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Op failed to remove stone Hi all, thought I’d share my story to see if anyone else has gone through what I have. Ok, so about 12months ago I was told I had a large kidney stone;1cm. This came as a bit of a shock as I hadn’t really had any symptoms. Well a long story short, in Oct 07 I was admitted to hospital to have a PCNL operation; key hole surgery via my posterior right side. Thought all had gone according to plan until the surgeons told me they couldn’t get the stone as my cortex was too thin!(I know my kidney is scarred from numerous infections over the years) and that the stone itself was too difficult to remove via keyhole. I didn’t sign any form to say they could do open surgery…so anyway I’m back in on Jan 9th 08`. This time I was all the facts prior to surgery for peace of mind really. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I’d be interested to know. Also does anyone know if having keyhole or open surgery will compromise the function of my kidney? Many thanks for reading Comments
