How do you live with Interstitial Cystitis?

I was diagnosed with Interstital Cystitis 3 months ago. I am in constant daily pain, I am on all the appropriate meds including catheterizing myself every time I urinate. The pain is excruciating in my bladder and my back. I have pain meds as well but they only help a little. I take 1 every 6 hours. I don’t sleep at night and have lost time at work. I cannot sit or stand for long. I follow the diet I found on line and dring distilled water because the lack of minerals in it is supposed to help you.
My doctor is wonderful. My problem is I cannot urinate. On July 9th I am having the test procedure where the place an electrode through your back to your nerves near your bladder. I have this for 10 days. If I feel better, then I get the Interstim Implant soon after, which is supposed to show an 80% improvement in symptoms. I’m going for it! I went on line to the site and they sent me info along with a free DVD showing me the entire procedure.
The thing is, is this is a liflong condition and I am so very depressed over it. I suffer from Depression anyway and I am just tearful all the time, motionless, uninterested in life, etc..of course I will see my counselor and continue to work on this.
How do you cope with this diagnosis?
Anyone have the implant?
Please, please help me! I’m desperate!
