To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Living with IC. I am a 27yr old female that was diagnosed with IC 7 years ago. I have seen 8 different urologists, some at the best hospital’s in Boston that specialize in IC Some of them have been no help at all, and others very caring and understanding but have had limited options to offer me. I have tried so many different rx’s and procedure’s, none with great results. I tried Elmiron for 10 months with no results, and everything from detrol to elavil to antibiotics to help me, also with no results. I have been on oxycodone and pyridium for years and they help me work and get through the day, but sometimes the pain and discomfort I have is unbearble. I have many days when I end up sitting on the toilet for 20 minutes at a time just to be able to pee a little amount, other times I have a full badder every 15 minutes! I have cut all tomato sauce out of my diet and that has helped! I tried the DMSO treatments.. they made me have horrible flare-ups and I had all negative results from it. I also tried accupucture and although it helped it was very expense and after a few months of weekly visits I stopped getting results.I have been thinking about trying them again. I find that the pain and symptoms come out of no where. It has caused such stress in my every day life because of it. I never realized how many people are affected by IC and how young some people that have it. I am going to try postier tibial nerve stimulation.Has anyone tried this? I also have heard that untreated UTI’s can cause infertility. Does anyone know anything about that? Or if its true? I would appreciate anyone’s knowledge/ comments on this. Thank you. Comments
