To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Possible Link to IC: Birth Control Pill Over the past year and a half I have been diagnosed with five UTI’s or Bladder Infections, on the fifth time I went to my doctor in extreme pain, they concluded that I see a urologist and mentioned something about IC, after I saw the Urologist he concluded that I should wait some time to have a procedure done to conclude IC, but that I have all the symptoms for IC This was in October, it has been 5 months since I’ve had any sort of bladder pain. Now, I was not diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis although both of my doctors were convinced I had it. Well I should back-track here, I started taking birth-control pills in the Summer of 2006, Winter 2006, I started to experience bladder or urination pain. This is also when my doctor’s started to diagnose my UTI’s or bladder infections. Now, I had said to my doctor on numerous occasions that I started to think that my birth control pills were causing my UTI’s because I had never experienced pain before I started taking the pill. My doctor always told me that it is “natural, human instinct to think something foreign is causing harm to your body.” and not to worry about it. So, I continued to take the pill and continued to experience frequent UTI’s and pain. I stopped taking the birth control pill in October ‘07, that was the last time I experienced any sort of bladder or urination pain. I have not seen the doctor’s since October and feel absolutely fine. I have not taken the birth control pill since then and although I am not condoning my treatment to Interstitial Cystitis, I am spreading that there may be some sort of link between IC and the birth control pill, I was taking Loestrin 24 and Yaz during that time.
