My family doctor just diagnosed me with IC after ending up in the E.R. in so much pain I couldn’t stand, sit or walk. They gave me a pain shot which made the IC worse…a common problem, a mistake doctors make with IC. I have had pain in my bladder for years…it is worse if I try to drink caffeine (I gave it up 6 years ago because of the intense pain) but most often pain during & after sex; and lots of UTI symptoms but no infections in the testing shown. I am seeing a urologist tomorrow and frankly I do not want to. Most urologists are used to dealing with male patients and I am not up to the runaround. I have dealt with the laying-and-crying-on-the-bathroom-floor for years type pain and there are times when I cannot even walk across the room because the pain is so severe. I want an end to the pain….PERIOD. I don’t want to live in pain all the time like I have for years. My husband tells me everyday if he had one wish it would be so I could be pain free for one week straight after 17 years of marriage. If it’s addictive pain meds, I don’t care. What’s worse? Being addicted to pain killers or living with pain every single day? Doctors don’t often realize how little insurance companies seem to pay in this day and age and they are about the almighty dollar and bringing you back and back and back again for more tests and very rarely relieve any of your pain. That’s how its been for me. I hope if anyone else is reading this that has suffered from years of bladder pain so excrutiating that sometimes you beg GOD to just let you have some peace from it, that you find a doctor caring and concerned enough and PROFESSIONAL enough to help take your pain away and not just to bilk your insurance company and your family checkbook!
