Living With Interstitial Cystitis

At the beginning of my colleges Year, I was experiencing severe pain in the bladder and pelvic. I was going to the washroom around 40 times a day, most of the time was at night. I failed my exams because I couldn’t hold it in and had tp run to the washroom every 20 minutes.

What was worse was that the doctors didn’t believe me. They ran several tests like ultrasounds and urine test. Everything came negative, so they figure there was nothing wrong with me. Finally after three years of suffering and many visits to the emergency, I found an urologist and he performed a cystoscopy I am not sure if that the right spelling, but they scope your bladder, and he told me that I had IC

He sent me to the hospital to get Heparin treatment. What a joke…. What was worse is that the nurses couldn’t put the catheters in me. They would go through 5 catheters before they got it right. Since I’ve been diagnosed with IC I’ve gone to the hospital many times because I couldn’t void. Each time the doctors would leave the catheter in me for 3-4 days each time. My Urologists is going to perform surgery on my bladder very shortly. So I hope they will come up with something better.
