Living with BPH/Enlarged Prostate

Brief history: My prostate has been marveled at by various doctors for some years for it’s apparently large size. (No book of records, but big.) It was interferring with urination, and I could even feel it when sitting on the edge of a hard surface.

I underwent the “microwave” procedure about 4 years ago, and that helped, but for only 2 years. My urologist then performed the “green laser” procedure about 2 years ago, and this is still effective.

He also has me on Avodart, which has, as their commercials claim, shrunk the prostate. Only problem is with the side-effects. Since this medication suppresses one of the male hormones, it tends to “feminize” the body. I seem to have lost a fair amount of body hair, (not having a great deal to start with), and I am developing boobs. (AAA at the present time, but I will keep a close eye on this.) If I develop an intense interest in shopping for shoes, I plan to reconsider the usage of this drug. Did I mention that it costs just a little under $3/pill? I hope this has been of help to anyone with BHP.
