Bladder cancer

by: Lou on Mon, Aug 06 2007

In september, it will be 4 yrs since i had my bladder, prostate removed due to bladder cancer Funny thing, my father at 56, was diagnosed with the same. i saw the first very small blood particles at 56 also. When my primary referred me to a urologist I went. When he heard my history, he took me to examination room with a cystoscope, and walked back in 10 minutes later and told me ” I was loaded with cancer in my bladder “. Well, hello!

Tried treatments through penis for 5 different proptocols. Finally, he said that it had to come out. Went in, not knowing the gravity of the surgery, and made it. Was in hospital for 8 days. Been using the pouch for 4 years, problems sometime, but over all I am Ok. After three annuals scans, all looks well. Never lose the fear tho, that you know there is, or was cancer in there. By the way, I am 61, married, two daughters and three grandsons. Sorry to say , I still smoke!
